About Us
There has been a tradition of choral singing in Kenfig Hill going back as far as the late 1800s, and from these singers, Kenfig Hill Male Voice Choir was originally formed. During this time, the choir performed throughout Wales and won numerous prestigious competitions, however, due to lack of interest, the choir disbanded in 1949. Then, in 1971, Kenfig Hill Male Voice Choir was reformed by a group of 18 singers. Today the choir has over 60 choristers and is going strong.
Kenfig Hill Male Voice Choir is internationally renowned and has performed throughout Europe and North America including Norway, Germany, France, Poland, Italy, Ireland, Estonia, and Jersey, and two visits to Canada. The Choir has also performed throughout the UK in prestigious venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall, De Monfort Hall Leicester, The Millennium Centre, and St David’s Hall both in Cardiff. The Choir has also performed at some notable religious venues, York Minster, Bradford Cathedral, Selby Abbey, Doncaster Minster, Llandaff Cathedral, and St Patrick’s Cathedral Dublin. They have also sung at three political parliament buildings, the Palace of Westminster, The Senedd, and the European Government Building in Strasbourg.
Kenfig Hill Male Voice Choir is a non-profit registered Charity. All monies received by the choir go to help with the running costs of the choir e.g. uniforms, equipment, practice room hire, and administration.
